Painting Kitchen Cabinets

Transforming Your Kitchen on a Budget

Painting Kitchen Cabinets is a great way to transform your kitchen. As an alternative to replacing or refacing kitchen cabinets, getting your kitchen cabinets painted is a much more affordable option. Being a popular trend of HGTV, Pinterest and Interior Design magazines, It looks as if painted kitchen cabinets are here to stay, and for good reason — they look great! They can look great, that is, if they are done correctly. In the past, it has been nearly impossible to get a good result when attempting to paint kitchen cabinets. In the past decade, improvements have been made in the products available to paint your cabinets. Now, it can be done well, and safely!

“The System is the Solution”

Painting Kitchen Cabinets is a challenging project to “DIY” and expect stunning results. Brushing and rolling a finish onto cabinets is the preferred method of a diy’er, which will not give you that “automobile finish” so sought after. Our Artists and Technicians use spray technology as well as high performance, LEED-CERTIFIED products to produce stunning results that are safe in your home.

At Brush & Color, we believe in a system-solution for the best results. This turnkey methodology allows our team of artists to focus on the here and now, not having to worry about unknown variables that “winging it” allows to dictate a project.  For kitchen cabinet painting, or turnkey system includes a step-by-step process of;

  1. Remove and Label each kitchen cabinet door and drawer face.
  2. Remove hardware
  3. Transport Doors
  4. De-grease all surfaces
  5. De-Gloss all surfaces
  6. Patch any “dings and dents”
  7. Sand all surfaces
  8. Clean again
  9. Prime surfaces
  10. Buff sand
  11. Prime once more
  12. Buff sand
  13. First coat top-coat
  14. Buff sand
  15. Final Coat
  16. Safely Transport Doors & Drawers
  17. Safely Reinstall Doors & Drawers

Our technicians work off-site on doors and drawers, in our studio. Your kitchen and bathroom cabinet shells will be brushed and rolled on-site with a fine-finish brush and a microfiber fine-finish roller, leaving a nearly perfect finish, that the doors will cover. We believe that spraying in your house is not only a waste of resources (paper and plastic waste), but the “dust” from a sprayer is dangerous, no matter how safe the fumes of the paint. Think about it like this, you are breathing in plastic in dust form…who wants to inhale plastic?!

Your kitchen cabinets have now been transformed! Delegating this project to a professional wouldn’t be unwise. It is a trend that has brought many advances in our industry, which is very exciting for both our clients and our fellow painters, worldwide!
